KYC Shield

Pre-onboarding fraud screening for banks and PSPs — catch phishing rings, mule recruitment, shell entities, and bot-driven applications before accounts are approved.

KYC Shield is PayLegit's pre-onboarding fraud prevention product — built for the moment a customer applies for a savings account, current account, merchant account, or business relationship.

Most fraud losses start at onboarding. Mule networks do not open one account — they open hundreds. Phishing victims complete real KYC on attacker-controlled flows. Shell entities pass document checks while hiding their true purpose. KYC Shield screens every application in real time and returns a clear risk decision before your team approves or rejects.

The onboarding flow When an applicant submits a form — on your website, mobile app, or branch portal — KYC Shield evaluates identity, device, connection, geolocation, and behavioural signals in parallel. A composite risk matrix combines weak signals into one actionable band: Critical, High, Medium, or Low.

What KYC Shield detects • Phishing & social engineering — GPS vs IP mismatches, coerced applications, anonymised connections (VPN, Tor, datacenter) • Mule account recruitment — device farms, same IP with many different machines, scripted bulk sign-ups • Shell & synthetic identities — new devices in high-risk geographies, clustered behaviour across "different" applicants • Bot-driven applications — headless browsers, honeypot triggers, automated form-fill patterns • Merchant account abuse — applicants whose digital footprint does not match a legitimate business

Risk outcomes your team understands • Critical — Reject application; do not onboard • High — Route to manual analyst review before approval • Medium — Approve with ongoing payment monitoring enabled • Low — Auto-approve for a frictionless genuine customer experience
