Online MCC Intelligence
Automated MCC classification for digital merchants — website data is fetched, parsed, and sent to an LLM trained on Visa and Mastercard MCC lists, returning Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary MCCs in under 45 seconds per URL.
Online MCC Intelligence is PayLegit's automated MCC engine for digitally present merchants — e-commerce, SaaS, subscriptions, marketplaces, fintech apps, aggregators, and hybrid digital models.
How it works: PayLegit fetches and parses live website data — product pages, policies, pricing, checkout flows, and business signals — then sends structured evidence to an LLM trained on Visa and Mastercard MCC reference lists. The model returns Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary MCC classifications with confidence scores, typically in under 45 seconds per URL.
Merchants routinely misclassify — nutraceutical sellers coded as wellness blogs, lending platforms presented as consulting services, gambling operations hidden under low-risk MCCs. Visa's enhanced MCC accuracy requirements and Mastercard's portfolio-level monitoring make accurate classification a scheme compliance imperative, not an operational nice-to-have.
The pipeline crawls policy pages, extracts contact and business data, detects redirects and ad signals, labels business type, scores MCC candidates semantically, and adjudicates final classification with confidence scores and reasoning. A seven-dimension website authenticity assessment — About Us, Products, Pricing, Contact, TOS, Policies, Ad/Social — produces GENUINE, MEDIUM_RISK, HIGH_RISK, or FAKE verdicts with hard rules for missing legal pages and fake social proof.
